The electromagnetic spectrum is a continuum of energy, stretching from radio waves kilometers long to gamma rays smaller than atomic nuclei. It's all the same phenomenon—oscillating electric and magnetic fields propagating through space at light speed—just vibrating at different frequencies.

Your eyes detect only a sliver of this spectrum: wavelengths between 380 and 700 nanometers. That's it. That's your window into electromagnetic reality. The algorithmic feed operates in the ultraviolet of pattern recognition you can't consciously access.

You think you're choosing what to watch, what to read, what to click. But most of your interaction happens in frequencies of cognition you don't control—automatic, reactive, shaped by systems optimizing for engagement metrics you never agreed to prioritize.

The platforms see your full spectrum. They measure dwell time, scroll velocity, click patterns, pause duration. They detect signals in your behavior you don't know you're emitting. They optimize for frequencies of response you can't consciously modulate.

Living in the Invisible

You are surrounded by radiation you cannot perceive, generating data you cannot see, feeding systems you cannot audit. The electromagnetic spectrum is a perfect metaphor for surveillance capitalism because both operate primarily in registers beyond human sensation.
